Tips on relocating
I recently relocated from my child hood home this past fall and it was one of the hardest things that I’ve ever done. There was too much stuff! But here are some things that got me through.
Acknowledge when its time to go - Have you been in the same place for a long period of time? Are things a little stagnant for you? You have to take into account your surroundings and see if it is time for a change. If so, see step 2.
Do the research and visit the place you want to move to in advance. Ideally, if you can visit the place you are going in advance this can help you to put some things in place prior to your move.
Purge the things that don't need to come on your new journey. If it’s broke down and dusty you should probably get rid of it. If its mint condition but something that you do not use frequently, you should consider donating it or sell it. If you value it pack it up safely and be sure to clearly label your boxes.
Ask for help, you are going to need it and you’ll never know who will come to your rescue. Whether they help you pack or recommend a good moving company. Take all the help you can get.
Stay grounded throughout your move. Changing environments can be daunting on your body and the uncertainty effects everyone differently.
