By: Tené B. La Escritora, Lex Lavish, & Leafy Loveboat

Tene B. La Escritora, the twenty-three year old Editor-in-Chief of Pour L’ame is a rising force in the writing world. Tene is also passionate about colors, using colors such as stone gray, rose gold, and stem green to describe herself. Ms. La Escritora is breaking molds and is ready to live for herself as she helps and does what she loves through the various avenues of service in her life. She has learnt boundaries and is ready for the next level. After bouncing back from many pitfalls she is confident about the future.

Growing up in Queens with a host of extended family members, young Tene had many people pouring into her. They ensured that she went to diverse schools that would expose her to a wide array of cultures and experiences. From a night at the museum to study abroad, Tene has had many experiences to draw from. She was a bright student during her scholastic days, however, this did not stop her from being street smart as well. Along with street smarts come, street lessons. Some of which were painful but through this turn of events Tene was able to find solace in the arts.

Dance and writing were her favorite, however, she would put them down for her first two years of college to focus on her academics. After some time away from writing, a traumatic event sparked her pen and led her to an art showcase at her school, Spelman College. She didn’t end up being chosen for the showcase but the fact that her poem was even considered made her take her writing seriously. Tene received a full scholarship to Spelman College. During her time there she shifted her focus from money and corporate, to finding success in different avenues through meeting a wide array of people. She also found healthier lifestyle alternatives such as veganism, and black literature.  Spelman shaped her as a black woman, taught her to love service and social issues such as homelessness, to love her height, her hair, vocal tone, and all the things that she felt insecure about. She also met life long friends who can surround themselves with all walks of life.

Tene has come to Pour L’ame to bring vibrant language and life to the stories of creatives. In the next 2 years she would love Pour L’ame to have thousands of daily views, creative events, and to be operating as a full-time business. She wants to share as many artists and perspectives as she can through this magazine. Checkout her work on Instagram @teneb.laescritora and @tallgirltea, also the name of her blog. Lex Lavish – Chief Creative officer

Lex Lavish is a 24-year-old creative goddess from New York. In 2020, This 5’8 beauty graduated from St. John’s University with a B.S in Television and film. Growing up, She resided with her wonderful mother and older brother in New York. It was clear to Lex from a young age that she loved art. She remembers bringing arts and crafts projects home from school on the weekends. She would go the extra mile to perfect and remake her pieces because they fascinated her. Lex Lavish says, “she took her art supplies very seriously.” Art runs in her family. Her mother would buy her coloring books and art supplies. Her older brother George encouraged her art a lot by checking in to make sure she was still practicing and appreciating her talents. This love for art continued into high school as she participated in an advanced placement art class at St. Agnes high school. She was a part of the drama plays in high school.

During high school, Lex Lavish not only self-taught acrylics nails sets but also built her fashion sense in her unique way. Although she was aware of her creative skill set, entering college, she fell into the status quo of what intuitions deemed successful. Lex had a common concern of many students, loans. She wanted to ensure she would secure a lucrative job after college, and every surrounding influence deemed art an unlivable career. First-year of college as a civil engineering major in Connecticut. Lex Lavish says, “your true self always shows through at the end of the day.” After giving the STEM route a chance, she did just that and decided to study media full-time for her college education. As a full-time student and worker, there was very little time for a social life. Art was a much-needed radical self-care decision for the creativity of Lex Lavish.

Lex Lavish incorporates art into her daily life as an esthetic-based person, and this mindset plays a significant role in her decisions. She believes art is in everything and tries to surround herself with such. Lex Lavish finds the art information valuable because its concepts provide direction in detail for an artist from a small too wide scale. The focus art mediums are photography and painting. Lex has an absolute bomb eye for photography. Mementos and family photos of Lex Lavish’s family sparked the interest. Lex progressed in photography and learning about Lomography film. This concept became a favorite of Lex’s as she enjoyed the saturated vibrancy of the image quality. Lex mentions her many polaroid cameras and all the memories

accumulated from them. She has also fallen in love with production and set design. The movie and television sets we all see, this dope creative will be a part of all of that one day soon. Lex is constantly seeking ways to broaden her creativity skills; she currently attends design classes. How does Lex Lavish continue to dive into her passion? Through affirmations like, “Be grateful for the day live in today, hope today, so you can live to see tomorrow” Often the question is, what would you tell your past self? But never your future self. Lex Lavish says the most important thing to say to her future self is, “Thank you for getting serious about your life and following the intuition which led you to art. I am so happy I listened to every sign that told me this was my passion.”

Lex Lavish is on an optimistic and anticipative tip when describing her vision and contributions to Pour L’âme. She looks forward to the magazine propelling the culture through arts, music, esthetics, different businesses. Lex appreciates collaborative spaces, primarily when the efforts are to support communities. As the Chief Creative Officer, Lex Lavish aims to find creative showcase creators that contribute to the esthetic progression of the culture. In addition, a design perspective with elements of realism, color, and sleekness. When she is not slaying a paintbrush or camera lens, you can find her longboarding at night, art exhibits, and out with friends. Is she not a vibe?? I agree. Stay on the lookout for the style, and fierce esthetic Lex Lavish will be bringing to the Pour L’âme Magazine and other mediums near you.

Leafy Loveboat – Secretary of Sound

Leafy Loveboat is a 23-year-old art enthusiast born and raised in Long Island, New York. He is currently a rising senior at Farmingdale State College pursuing a degree in Computer networking. Let's give him his praise because we love left and right brain duality.

He grew up with his highly determined and resistant single mother, who made all strides to provide the best opportunities for his development. On his father's side, he is the middle child of seven. Despite the divided household, Leafy admires his father for always making an effort to show up as an example and be a part of his life. It not only pushed him to be his best self but developed him as a man.

Leafy is not the one to be played with when it comes to the writing and audio ear. His art medium specialties are writing, music, and photography. Leafy knew art chose him when he began writing plays and acting them out with his older cousins at the age of seven. It was a creative release for him at an early age and created an opportunity to bond. Loveboat's creative writing died down throughout the end of middle school and high school. This was due to a lack of interest, and he didn't view writing as a viable outlet. He looked up to prominent name writers like Shakespeare, Charles Baudelaire, and Flannery O'Connor. Not fully accepting his talent and capabilities, he questioned his capability compared to famous writers he idolized. It picked back up during his college journey as he battled severe depression and searched for an outlet. Most humbly, Leafy emphasizes that he has a way with words nobody else really does. He is an upcoming wordsmith in Generation Z. Not fully accepting his talent and capabilities, he questioned his ability compared to prominent writers he idolized. We love this newfound confidence for him and the capacity it will be used in Pour L’âme.

Leafy Loveboat clarifies that he is a fan first when it comes to art, but especially music. Music has been life for him since the eighth grade. This interest was sparked by his older cousin, who spent much of his middle school years. This older brother introduced him to some of the most classic albums during this time and the hottest fashion waves. Leafy says he wouldn't be as far in his creative journey without him. The underground rap scene kick-started his love for the music as they figuratively broke through so many ceilings. He fell in love with Metro Zoo's group because of their attitude towards music and rebellion against parental preferences. Leafy identifies the most influential music artist to him as ASAP Yams. This artist's level of realness and ability to deliver fantastic music from behind the scenes created Leafy Loveboat's music path.

You can find Leafy in arts and sports such as Karate, Mua Thai, hiking, and boxing during his free time. He loves these activities and uses them to release all of his intense energy. On the other hand, Leafy Loveboat doesn't believe he has a daily life without art. He spends the rest of his free time listening to new music, new artists, and new beats. As a new contributor to Pour L’âme, we can expect Leafy to bring spotlight and recognition to artists that deserve endless shine. Leafy could never blindly support an artist he's not passionate about.

We look forward to the authenticity, genuineness, and childlike wonder Leafy Loveboat brings to Pour L’âme. He assures us he will never be disinterested in Pour L’âme because he loves art and is a fan.

Ace the Legynd – Founder

“Music is my wife; Pour L’ame is like my baby...the offspring of my artistic self.”

What defines a legend? With a legendary status usually comes a degree of notoriety and maybe even some infamy. Legends leave lasting impressions on the lives they touch, often equally hated and revered for going against the norm and carving their lanes in their respective fields. Legends tend to evolve, stories of their triumphs and failures are constantly circulating, rendering them eternal. Guess it’s a good thing the boss is so aptly named then, huh?

Ace the Legynd is a 23-year-old rapper and visionary born and raised in New York. The Legynd spent many of his formative years in Hempstead (once home to fellow emcee Roc Marciano), which he credits as the place that shaped his identity but wasn’t a positive environment for him. His first real exposure to art came in his early college years, where his nights consisted of frequenting studios with other artists and the occasional art show.

Ace’s very own legend began to take shape during the spring break of 2017. Pending a trip to Cancun, fellow friend and rapper Alpha Rellix convinced Ace to try his hand at rapping and record a track. Together they cleared out Rellix’s storage room and basement and set up a microphone to forge their very own studio and, unbeknownst to them at the time, the beginning of their respective legends. In about four weeks, while still in school and working full-time, Ace crafted his first project. The Legynd took his creation along with him, falling in love with his work on the beaches of Cancun. Each listen, painting a clearer picture of where art could take him and igniting a creative ember within him.

This creative spark manifested itself in Ace getting involved with countless creative ventures, including photoshoots, hosting art shows, and hosting events where other artists struggling to get booked could showcase their skills. This helped sow the seeds for the eventual birth of Pour L’ame.

Pour L’ame, in the Legynd’s own words, is the offspring of his artistic self. He sees Pour L’ame as a way to shine the spotlight on artists of all mediums with the intent of garnering the recognition they rightly deserve. One of his main gripes with the modern art world is art is being seen as a disposable medium and isn’t appreciated how it should be. He sees that the main reason for this is the more prominent publications pushing out content that is only motivated by “clout and clicks.” He makes it a point of emphasis that Pour L’ame is curated by artists for everyone and refuses to let it be tainted by greed or clout like many special publications have over the years.

As our Founder, Ace is still a busy man. When asked what he does in his free time, he reflexively asks, “What free time?” But, when prodding for a more serious answer, if he’s not at work, then he’s working on his screenplay. If he’s not working on his script, he’s creating content for Pour L’ame. He stresses that he is dedicated to his work (for better or for worse, he’s still unsure) in part due to a lack of time. “I don’t respect time, but time be making me respect it.” Ace aims to make a constant stream of creative and intriguing content a regular for Pour L’ame and to see it grow to a household name.
